Kraken

In Norse mythology, the Kraken is a large beast of the sea. The myth probably originates from a giant squid spotted in the waters then it was written about and there were stories relayed through song, however it has in recent years become a part of pop culture, having been featured in several major motion pictures.

Galaxy

When we think of the galaxy, the vastness that is space, one of the first things we think of is stars. If you’re lucky enough to live in the country, you probably can get a decent view of the stars every night before bed. Those of us who are inhibited by city air pollution are considerably less fortunate in terms of star gazing.

There are however several ways we can study the night sky, without actually seeing it. One way is to go to a planetarium, which we do with one of our homeschool groups every month. Another way is to make constellation luminaries.

Elves

When we talk of elves, I always think of Tolkien’s elvish warriors with their beautifully made weapons and the grace with which they fought, making a battle scene look almost like a dance. My children and I love the movies, of course, but we also have spent many an afternoon curled up listening to the audio book.

Chewbacca

Chewbacca has become a pop culture icon in recent years. The subject of many great costumes, toys, and debates. Even among my own friends, someone will occasionally “speak Wookie” in an attempt to get a chuckle from the others (and its not always me!). If you follow me on Instagram then you might have noticed that even my puppy has a Chewbacca winter coat.

Wild Kratts Birthday Party Favors and Free Printable

One of the many fun aspects of throwing a children’s party is deciding on the guests’ party favors. These little trinkets and toys that they take home are not just a memento of the fun they’ve had at the party, but also a way of continuing the fun at home.
I like to think I’ve got a good track record, from my “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think” Kit at our Dr Suess party to my Sugar Skull Dolls at our Halloween party.

My latest party favor idea, for our Wild Kratts birthday party, has to be one of my all time favorites.
