I’ve been looking at these beautiful fairy and gnome gardens all over Pinterest for about a year now and wishing I had some way of getting LittleMan interested in such a thing. They look so cute and so fun but when I tried to make one with him last summer, he would have none of it.
Then I came across this beautiful little fairy garden from Charming Zebra using dinosaurs instead of fairies or gnomes. WAY COOL!
But then, at the bottom of her post she suggests something even cooler…..creepy zombie forest.
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE IDEA!
So thats just what we did.
We started with an old baking pan as our base. LittleMan glued some blue glass gems to make a creek. Then he shoveled dirt into the pan and added an aged flower pot in the corner and filled that with dirt as well. Once he had good layer of dirt in both his pan and his pot, it was time to spread the seeds. We really wanted something that would grow thick and be cost effective so we used grass seed with a sprinkling of wild bird seed mix.
At our local comic book shop, I came across this bag of 100 small plastic zombies (meant to be used with a board/dice game).
LittleMan placed a dozen or so zombies in the garden but there are plenty left in the bag for another activity or two. He also added some sticks and a large stone he found in the yard.
I can’t wait to see how it looks when the seeds start to grow!by
