We are members of a couple different local homeschool groups. One of our groups meets monthly for “gym day” which is basically just a time when the children can run off some energy with their peers in a safe, enclosed area. Of course free play is encouraged on gym days but we also supply activities to entertain the children. Because gym days are a monthly event, we try to keep supplies and prep time to a minimum. This month’s theme was super hero.
Activity #1: Super Power Charades
Much like regular charades, only instead of acting out a movie title you’ll be acting out the power of flight or invisibility or x-ray vision, to name a few.
Activity #2: Test Your Super Strength
How many push-ups can you do? What about sit-ups?
Is that more or less than your best bud?
Activity #3: Capture Doctor Freeze
A super twist on the classic freeze-tag.
Activity #4: How far can you fly?
For this activity, you’ll need a measuring tape.
Activity #5: Sneak into the Evil Lair
For this obstacle course activity you’ll need chairs and some yarn.
Simply line the chairs up into two rows and string the yarn between them like laser beams. Challenge the children not to touch the beams as they crawl though.
