Patriotic Sensory Bin

The 4th of July is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than some red, white, and blue fun. This post is yet another installment of our toddler series, a collaborative series between myself and the clever Kristan of Munchkin and Bean.

My children love playing with sensory bins (and its good for them too!) so I of course decided to put together a 4th of July sensory bin for SunnyGirl to explore.

The base of this bin is such a fun texture and consistency to play with. It can be molded and crumbled, yet it is smooth. It is a lot like cloud dough, but I only used one ingredient and it doesn’t have any of the chemicals we worry about when we use baby oil to make traditional cloud dough. Can you guess what it is?

Cake Mix!
Cake mix is so great because you can pick it up on sale for $1 or less, and it comes in all sorts of flavors (which means a wide variety of colors and scents, even though you aren’t eating it).

Besides cake mix we also have glass gems, stripes of plastic canvas, and some plastic spoons.

SunnyGirl had A LOT of fun with this bin, she did not want to put it away.
