If you haven’t already, go check out our tutorial on how to build a Viking Longboat out of plastic bottles. The following are the finished product pictures and LittleMan’s dreams come to fruition as we sailed around a local lake, aptly named Lake Valhalla.

Hi I wanna make one of those really badly but… how long did the boat last? I saw you used packing tape to bind it how well did it hold up in the water?

      Thanks for asking.
We only used the boat for one weekend (probably a total of two hours in the water) and then we disassembled it and recycled all the bottles. That said, it held up well for the weekend that we used it. Showed no signs of falling apart anytime soon.
I don’t think this is a viable option for long term boating but it was a fun project to make and it helped facilitate our Viking study unit.
