I recently posted the bare essentials of some of the theme baths our family has done. Here are the details of our latest themed bath: rain.
It was a simple bath, however a roaring success with LittleMan who has always loved puddle stomping in the rain.
I started out by smearing some shaving cream onto the wall in a sort of cloud shape, then I painted blue rain drops falling from the clouds. I hung an umbrella from the shower curtain rod, put his wellies on the side of the tub. I supplied him with blue paint, a brush, and a spray bottle of blue water.
We also did a small science experiment before beginning the bath. The experiment, which I found at Create-Play-Homeschool, is simply shaving cream on top of water in a clear container. Drop some food coloring on top, and when the food coloring gets heavy enough, it will fall through the shaving cream cloud and “make rain.”
After our experiment and a quick discussion about the types of clouds and where rain comes from, LittleMan got down to business enjoying his bath. First things first, squishing the shaving cream.
Then SunnyGirl got in on the action and together they painted the
town tub blue.
