Little Leafers Nature Study is a year-round class, divided by season, created by Suzy Homeschooler.
You could be a parent with just one or two informal pupils, or you could be a co-op instructor with two dozen children under-foot. Either way, this is a flexible course that you can bend to fit your unique needs.
The autumn session is 6 weeks long. Each week has printable student packs with nature journal prompts, illustrated nature guides, fun facts, and vocabulary words. Each week also has printable teacher’s guides with subject related tips, lectures, discussion prompts, Montessori-inspired tray work, and a suggested craft.
LittleMan and I were at the shop recently and looking at his options for the upcoming homeschool Valentine exchange when it dawned upon us that it had all been done before. Ninja turtles, Star Wars, all of it. And while he loves his fandoms, LittleMan really wanted something to reflect his love of science. So I offered to help him make some that showcased his interests.
And so, with LittleMan’s help, today is day two of a 14 day series of Free Printable Valentines for Science Geeks. Today’s Valentine is all about cats!
I am joining up with a great group of bloggers today to bring you 40 days of sensory bin fillers. Each of us is discussing one filler everyday for 40 days straight, you can get links to all the posts in the series over at Little Bins for Little Hands.
This week LittleMan surprised us by asking to study cats. I did a bit of looking around online but most everything I could find in the way of printables either felt “too young” for him, like this preschool pack [click here] or “too old” for him, like this lapbook [click here]. They are lovely resources for children, which is why I’ve linked them for my readers, but not quite what we needed. So I experimented with making our own printables. And now, in case someone else might find them useful, I’m sharing them for free with all of you. Keep in mind these are my first attempt at making printables so there is room for improvement, but they seem to be working well enough for LittleMan.
