This is one of those projects where the end result looks *nothing* like what I had originally set out to create. Though I suppose if I want something to look a certain way, I should probably stop asking for LittleMan’s help making it because we will rarely agree. (more…)

My husband suffers from a condition I like to call Can’tGoToDollarTreeWithoutBuyingAKidsToyItis. I can’t really be mad at him for it since I’m fairly certain he may have caught it from me.
While we both love Dollar Tree and are both always finding little treasures there, I have to admit that the things we buy are slightly different. I usually buy something not a toy then make it into a toy whereas he usually buys toys from the toy aisle. Most recently he came home with two 2-packs of spinner tops.
I wasn’t sure LittleMan had the fine motor control to spin the tops by himself but as soon as I saw he did, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with those spinners.
Awhile back I posted about the discovery bottles we had on our shelves. Well, after a year of the same bottles, SunnyGirl was starting to loose interest in them. I had for quite some time meant to make new ones but just never got around to it. That is, until I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Fun at Home with Kids, call for Discovery Bottles on her Facebook page. That was just the kick I needed to finally make some new bottles. Here’s what I came up with: (more…)
As I mentioned in my last post, I really wanted to capitalize on this dinosaur kick LittleMan is on and create a dinosaur themed sensory writing tray, much like the fairy and mermaid writing trays I had seen on Pinterest. Today, I finally found the motivation to put it together.
Summer time without watermelon is like a birthday without cake and ice cream. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way because there have been countless watermelon themed ideas popping up all over Pinterest, Facebook, and the mom-blog world for several weeks now. Our own family is on our….11th? or maybe its 12th…watermelon of the season and we decided to extend the fun that is watermelon into a theme bath.
Bear with me because the pictures aren’t the greatest quality. I could blame the camera but really I’m just a horrid photographer, lol.
This summer I am all about doing “old school” crafts and activities with my children, the types of things I grew up doing and loving. So when I set out to make pet rocks with LittleMan I had envisioned something about the size of his fist, just like I had as child. Imagine my surprise when LittleMan insisted on a pair of tiny pebbles…
Things had to be tweaked to fit his desires. (more…)
As I mentioned yesterday, I made a new toy for SunnyGirl and I was anxious to see how she liked it. Now, I’ll admit she didn’t play with it but a few quick moments yesterday and that was only to humor me. This morning after breakfast she seemed far more keen to use it. These pictures however are from yesterday.
Not so long ago, I made SunnyGirl this birthday dress:
Here’s something I’ve been meaning to post about for a while now.
I mentioned storage for our giant sponge when I did the virtual tour of our children’s art studio but I never did say what it is we do with a giant sponge…
Last week our family did our first grocery trip of our no spend month and we had all agreed that we would only buy what was on the list, so I made sure to put a couple small treats that we don’t normally get on the list. The first of those treats was a box of generic Fruit Loops.
I am all about stretching a dollar and I couldn’t help but wonder, “how much could we do with a single box of generic Fruit Loop cereal?”
We had a ton of fun answering that question!
Here’s what we came up with…
When we lived in the UK, LittleMan got hooked on a popular British book series known as the Mr Men books. There’s Mr Happy, Mr Greedy, Mr Bump, Mr Bounce, Mr Tall, Mr Small and a whole slew of other Mr’s. LittleMan’s personal favorite is Mr Tickle.
