Weaving on Chicken Wire

This is one of those, “now that summer is over, what am I supposed to do with those pool noodles?” projects.
All that is needed is foam pool noodles, cable (zip) ties, and a piece of chicken wire.

Just cut your chicken wire to the size you want it. Cut the pool noodles to be as long as each side of the chicken wire. Slice the side of pool noodle open so that you can slide the sharp ends of the chicken wire into the pool noodle. Then use cable ties to secure the wire to the noodles.

Anything can be used for weaving- yarn, long blades of grass, ribbons, or string.

I choose to offer ribbons in various colors and textures.

I demonstrated weaving a rainbow at the top of the frame.

As you can see, LittleMan is not too interested in straight lines at this point.

Weaving is excellent fine motor practice and is often used as a collaborative art project in Reggio schools.
